#6 in my Favorite "Crazy" Songs series belongs to Fine Young Cannibals and their 1988 hit "She Drives Me Crazy."
After British ska band The Beat (known as The English Beat here in the States) imploded, vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger formed the successful General Public. Not to be outdone, guitarist Andy Cox and bassist David Steele listened to, according to Wikipedia, over 500 applicants before bringing vocalist Roland Gift on board, forming Fine Young Cannibals.
The move paid off big time with the band's second album, 1988's The Raw and the Cooked, which spawned the international hit "She Drives Me Crazy."
"She Drives Me Crazy" was a smash, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is a Certified Gold Record. It has been covered a few times, notably by Dolly Parton, and Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
If the video looks familiar, it was directed by the same dude that directed the video for New Order's "True Faith," a man who once described himself as a part-time clown!
"She Drives Me Crazy" is a song recorded by the Fine Young Cannibals, included on their 1989 album The Raw and the Cooked. The song peaked at #5 as a single ...

Wow, Ms Piggy!
. Very interesting post, I'm more R&B but you drew me in because it is well written.

And to think that Jerry Harrison produced part of that album! I love this song, but I think my favorite of theirs is "Ever Fallen in Love."

You can't go wrong covering Buzzcocks, unless, you know, you totally screw it up!

You score again! Another fantastic 80s song! I love Fine Young Cannibals. My favorite song is Ever Fallen in Love from the Something Wild soundtrack.
