Items you should not put in your dishwasher

I stumbled across the article in the link below and had to check it out. They list 8 items you should never put in your dishwasher. I was pleasantly pleased to see that I don't put any of those items in the dishwasher. I never put pots and pans, I did years ago and it did funny things to the handles. So the next new set of pots/pans I bought never saw the inside of one. I was a Tupperware Dealer back in the stone age and although they said you could put it in the top rack - don't do it. Depending on your dishwasher you might wind up with a puddle of plastic stuck to your rack. My mother taught me not to put the good dishes, the good crystal or the good sterling in the dishwasher and I never did. But in case you think its a good idea to do so, it's not. There are a few other items they discuss and you can check it out for yourself. Photo is mine.
The dishwasher is one of those “best things since sliced bread” inventions, saving you countless hours otherwise spent stooped over the sink. But, of course, we’ve yet to create a device that’s a kitchen-cleanup panacea — there are some things the dishwash

We don't have a dishwasher . Maybe some rich people do have that , imported from other countries . But i was surprised that plastic cups and plates shouldn't e washed through it . And those nice chinaware too . I thought all along that they can be .

If you put plastic in the bottom rack the heat from the heating element will melt them. Fine china usually has some kind of 'gold' or 'silver' and the dishwasher's action could harm that.

I have no clue what happened to my mother's stuff - my sister probably sold it all. I have all mine from my first marriage...The few times I used the 'good stuff' it was hand-washed for sure.

I have always cooked in such a way that usually all my dishes and pans used are done when I am ready to serve. If people would just get it done they don't have to put much in the dishwasher. I used one usually when there was sickness in the family to sterilize and that was about it. My daughter uses it alot more that I ever did.

I like pushing a button and walking out of the kitchen LOL. I don't run it every day, so I always wash the coffee cups and such from breakfast by hand- we each have our 'special' mug so they need to be ready daily. I do turn it off once the heated dry gets started so it doesn't run the full cycle.

@AbbyGreenhill .......Whatever brand we have here hasn't had a problem in the fifteen or more years we have been here. They had to change the drum in the dryer but not a repair on the dishwasher at all.

That is a good list, I already knew it. I don't put those things in the dishwasher anyway.

Thanks for sharing that with us. Since I do not have a dishwasher I do not have to deal with what I can or cannot put in it. I am my dishwasher.
