Getting High This Morning

Catching the ten-to-six train this morning, I was in the City before seven. The forecast was right and it was going to be a hot day. Perfect for a trip up The Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe. The observation gallery is 800 feet above the ground, so the view should be stunning.
It was a bit hazy, but the London landmarks were worth the trip, having never seen them from this angle before. The picture shows Tower Bridge with the Tower of London next to it. The large ship is HMS Belfast, part of the Imperial War Museum.
After a little while my vertigo kicks in, something to do with knowing I am connected to the ground, and I descended with some rapidity.
When it comes to flying machines I don't get vertigo, instead I worry about what we are going to crash into!

I was about to say "me too." Then I realized you were talking about something else.

What a beautiful photo. I would be terrified up that high though.

Love the picture! I like seeing the landmarks, because it's not likely I'll get there myself. Ya never know, though.
I'm not crazy about heights, I have to have something secure surrounding me, lol.

Great view despite the haze. The bridge is classic and good look at the winding Thames.
