The antique shop. I may, or may not, have mentioned that I have an insatiable need to buy ridiculous items at antique fairs and shops. It goes hand in hand with my love of searching for the unsearchable in charity shops.
So today my Mumsy and I pootled off to a little country village which houses a farm shop and café next to a huge Aladdin’s Cave of wonderful mustiness and dust. Having stuffed our bellies with a savoury cream tea {chilli jam? yes please!} we meandered down to the old mill in which live lots of old bits and we browsed. It was like being in Heaven. Tables, mirrors, books, glassware, quirky tea plates, pictures, chairs, trays, suitcases, ancient picnic hampers, toys, rolling pins, vinyl, chandeliers, jewellery, clothing … my tongue did hangeth out …
I did buy. Of course I did. I came away with two Enid Blyton Dean & Son Ltd books for my {nearing completion} collection and a new old dolly. Yes, a new old doll. Judge me not. She’s a beauty, is she not? I think new old dolls are going to be my new ‘thang’.
I.
Must.
Stop.
Collecting.
Old.
Useless.
But.
Pretty.
Things.
*sigh of guilty contentment*

I do enjoy the occasional root. One of my favourite places is a large shop in the Elsecar Heritage Centre in South Yorkshire. It's got all sorts of wonderful stuff. I almost paid £85 for a preserved dissected frog in a jar last time I was in. Mrs WorDazza persuaded me not to. Well I say persuaded. More like "If that comes into our house, I leave."
I do miss her!!

Ha ha. I actually have a petrified frog in my garden. Beautifully preserved, and not dissected. I can send it to you for the bargain price of £75 if you want?! ;)

@Poppylicious Yes, the chilli jam is very good, I prepare it at home because I can find it anywhere.

Some of them can be quite creepy! I don't think I'd heard of chilli jam till yesterday. I'd definitely never tried it. Gorgeous!

I wish I ran an antique shop! Oh, no I don't. I wouldn't want to sell any of my lovely bits and pieces. I'd make zero pennies.

Why do old dolls give everybody but me the willies?! It's weird! They're just so huggable and scrummy. :)

@poppylicious Now about these dolls, pretend humans are freakishly creepy. I always think my daughter's dolls are laughing at me and are plotting a dastardly end to me
