Elvis has left the building ... forever

Elvis fans around the world are remembering that today, 39 years ago, Elvis Presley not only left the building, he left this world.
If you were an Elvis fan did you ever go to Graceland in Memphis? I did, in 1998 but it seems like yesterday. I did walk around in a slight fog, as I started crying as soon as we got there and cried most of the way through the tour. I do remember the Jungle Room!
I wasn't a fan when he began his career but I become one during his 'second coming'. When I hear certain songs I still well up with tears. Elvis - you were the King!

I did visit a couple of years ago. In today's world of mcmansions I was rather disappointed in how small the house is but the burial site in back certainly got to me and the museum is worth visiting. I was always a fan.

@AbbyGreenhill lol Its no Biltmore, my brother's house in Atlanta is bigger lol But of course when the king lives there who cares!! The kitchen was like a time capsule wasn't it? The age showed there more than elsewhere though there was a lot of shag carpet!

@BelleStarr I don't think the Biltmore was popular back then, not sure. I remember the white sofas in the living room thinking - kids - white - ugh!

In its day is surely was a mansion - or maybe that was just because he lived there LOL.

I have never visited Graceland but I would like to someday. I wasn't a real big fan of Elvis, but I did like some of his songs he did sing.

I was on the boardwalk in Seaside Park, NJ and sat down and cried, along with thousands of others.

@AbbyGreenhill I do not know the reason why I did not like him at first. I remember that I was vacationing at the farm house of my grandmother. With my cousin we went to see a movie with Elvis Presley and from that day on I loved his songs.

I think it was the black leather outfit that swayed me toward him!

We visited Graceland many years ago. Our kids thought the decor was weird, but I explained that at that time, it was the height of fashion!

Yes, it was high society back when it was built but it is funny seeing it in modern times!

If it wasn't at the other end of the state I'd go again.

I was a huge fan since I was 5 years old. Saw him in person twice, and visited his mansion twice.
