How much money do you spend on your kids for back to school supplies?

I was just wondering how much you spend on your kids for back to school. I have been shopping for my eight year old daughter, it's getting quite expensive. $25 for sneakers, $15 for jeans, it adds up. It seems like the only way to save would be second hand but I am not a big fan of purchasing things at thrift shops for my kids. How much do you spend per kid for back to school shopping?

Yea back to school is expensive. I spent around 100 i guess. Shoes bags notebooks and all. So before the school month starts i'll make sure to set aside some money for it

Just wait until they've grown up. I'm about to shell out about £1800 on advance rent and security deposits for my son's move to London to start his PhD.

My youngest has to wear a uniform, which is only available at one place so that adds up with a jumper, t-shirt, and PE kit. We can save a bit on trousers and shoes as they only need to be plain black, although he's in adult sizes. I think I probably spend £60 (just over $70) initially, but that's before he grows or ruins his shoes and needs new things!

I agree, it adds up rather quickly...

We don't have kids but we do help with our nieces and nephews if their parents are in a tight spot. They don't mind getting clothes from Salvation Army which means they get more than if we had to buy new. Some of their clothes from there still have the tags on it so I look for those first. Found some jeans with tags for $3.00. Beats getting them at a box store or other store. Shoes are bought new though. Hope your daughter has a good school year. Have a blessed day
