myLotting is easy...why do so many feel the need to cheat?

I just don't get it. myLot is a place to post original discussions written by you. It isn't hard to do, really. Sure, some of us, at times, can't think of anything to post. So we either don't post, or we post about how we can't think of anything to post. Nothing wrong with that. But then, you get the people that just won't think for themselves. They'll either copy something straight from the Internet, or they'll change one or two words and post it as 'their own' material. Changing the word 'world' for the word 'globe', for instance, does not make it yours. It is still plagiarism. It's okay to not have anything to say. It's okay not to say anything if you don't. It's NOT okay to take something written by someone else and change one or two words and post it as yours...because it isn't. Why can't some people understand that?

Surely you earn nearly as much just by commenting on others' posts if you think you have nothing to write about.

I think you do, but some people either just don't get it, or they think it doesn't matter

@sabtraversa Are you serious? So you know how much work it takes to type that four letter word out? Eye co-ordination, fingers, muscles, brain, concentration, strength...............those all are needed and much more..... I am already super tired typing that out

The question is: How can we get this across to the right people?

@owlwings I think back in the 50's or 60's when that was a show, $64 was a good chunk of money Edit - make that the 40's

I think copy pasters don't know English and are desperate for money. I can't imagine an English speaker bothering to cheat when there are so many easy ways to contribute just by responding.

The people that did this often had foreign names and/or locations. If they read guidelines, they probably don't know what the word plagiarism means.

Be fair! 'Globe' reads so much better than 'world'!! I honestly believe it takes more effort to find something to plagiarise then edit in a vain attempt to pass it off as your own than it does to interact on other people's posts. The latter is much more fun too!

I have to agree with you on that. Everything should be an original written by the member. There is no need to cheat, maybe some people are just hoping that nobody will notice. It is not right. This should be a fun place to come and have discussions. Great post!

Unfortunately, it shouldn't have to get mentioned as much as it does, but there always seems to be people thinking they can just post anything they want.

some are lazy....some don't care.....some really just don't get it. I like mylot the best because it's ok here to write about my day.....I don't have to write something educational to post here.

I think plagiarism is something that will always be around. It is horrible that people steal content and try to pass it off as their own. But they do get found out eventually. I never liked trying to copy anything. I like my original content. What better way to express yourself. These people that steal content are only looking to make money and ruin it for everyone else.

i've yet to figure such out myself. same's those who jest repeat what's'n the news with nothin' 'f their own to add 'n no credits 's to where they gathered such info. plagiarism? lack 'f respect fer others written words? 'r 've they jest gotten by with such fer so long (that hey, 'tis'n facebook, lets share't all o'er?) that such nonsense jest continues.

@JolietJake i agree, hon. 'course i've 'bout had my fill 'f those who constantly complain that they can't read what others've written, 'r they're too long. whilst i'm certain there's a discussion to be had, if'n ya can't read 't, 'tis too long, bores the crap outta ya 'r whate'er the case may be - jest move 'long! pardon me, i'm nearin' the end 'f weeks'n prednisone 'n such makes me a bit snarky...

I guess they're after the 'easy money', but I have yet to know of any of them that have made it to cash out successfully here. There has always been a strong core of users here that watch for things like that...when so many of us do our best to be original and come up with things off the tops of our heads, it gets a bit annoying to see someone post a list of things they saw on facebook or got from Wiki or some such place.

@crazyhorseladycx I'm snarky quite often, so it doesn't bother me much. I had a fairly long post up for a bit about something that personally concerns me...I got a response that basically said 'This is too long to read, but thanks for sharing' Sometimes I just wanna reach through the monitor and slap people

I have not seen any copied material here apart from the title of my last discussion which was copied from a members discussion but l let all know it`S copied. Maybe l have not seen any copy material because l have not checked well enough. But there are 2 members here who l have sometimes thought copy their discussions from the internet then post it here.

@JolietJake I know it. I guess people who try to cheat the system keep on trying to cheat the system. It's stupid, but they must be pretty desperate thinking "this time" they could actually get away with it - like a game or sick hobby for them.

Well, like this they surely can't take others work in their name. But that is old problem, and I have seen many people don't even care about it doing it. But I guess we can't do anything else then reporting about them with proofs.

What if you write something some one else did and give them the credit? Is that allowed or not. I'm new and I come across some really neat thing on my facebook and like to share. But if thats not allowed I will delete the two I did and say "Sorry".

Because it easier to take someone else's work instead of taking the time to do there own. It's so easy on here and I don't understand why some have to make it harder then it needs to be :)

Really, because it is easy here...just chat with people, sit back, and let stuff happen. People try to push it for some reason, and wind up with nothing when they are done.
