Kitty Snip

I think everybody remembers my rescue of Princess the Siamese cat who surprised me with a delivery of 4 kittens in early March. Well the kids turned 5 months old on 8/13 and it was time for the 2 males (Snowball & Snowflake), to visit the vet for the dreaded; snip-snip.
I loaded them up yesterday morning at 7:30 for their 8:00 appointment. They were so good in the car; no meowing or panic. Now mind you, both of these cats are playful and very loving but when I went to pick them up, the vet said that Snowflake (the calmer of the 2), had ripped them all a new one; starting with taking him out of the crate.
I guess I should have stayed 'to help out'. Who would've thunk it!!? I picked them up at 2:00 and Snowball cried all the way home, while Snowflake did nothing but hiss and spit. I think they were unhappy that their manhood had been removed (altered). They are back to their usual self today.
I did almost fall over at the cost. Whereas the neuter itself was only $65 for each boy and she didn't charge me for any of the anesthesia, the 3 shots per cat came to $61.00 each. The final bill? $252.
I still have to have Princess and the 2 girls (Pickles & Pumpkin) spayed. Yup, I can see me standing on the street corner in a short skirt and bra now.

Vet charges are very expensive. They can add up very quickly. Here the prices are higher then that. Females are very expensive at twice the cost of the males. Glad to hear that Snowball and Snowflake are feeling better today.

I don't understand why it still costs so much @Happy2BeMe . And the shots, that's ridiculous. The boys are definitely back to normal.

@nanette64 I often wondered too why things cost so much. I remember years ago I had an elderly cat who was having health issues. It ended up costing me $1600 and then I had to put him to sleep after all of that. It broke my heart but I knew I had tried everything. I had to do it on credit so it took me a long time to pay it off.

@Happy2BeMe I know what you mean. It's almost worth it to have pet insurance.

The cop said, "Now Nanette, didn't I just write you a ticket for the last time?"

@UncleJoe I would except I'm wearing a bright, orange, jail suit at the moment.

we have 4 male cats that need the snip snip and should have had it long ago.....we have a cheap vet that will do them with no extra things required like shots, but even then I can't come up with the money to do even one.
I have tried to find homes for them, but they know this is their home.
We also have one female left that needs to be spayed too....unless I do keep the kitten I want, then she needed spayed as well.
The cats have gotten to be too much here, no matter how much I love them all.

I know what you mean @marsha32 . With me now having 16 cats, all 6 males are now neutered but with the high cost of spaying females, it's gonna take me awhile. I've got 2 done but that still leaves 8 to do.

ridiculous what they charge 'n part 'f the reason that there's so many unwanted pups 'n cats out there - folks can't afford to 've 'em 'fixed' to prevent those unwanted pregnancies :(
i've thought 'f startin' one 'f those 800 call me thingies...fear i couldn't stand long'n a street corner 'n folks'd prolly jest laugh if'n they saw me standin' there, lol.

In this itty-bitty town @WorDazza , the Mayor would probably be my first client.

@nanette64 I hope there's an additional charge for official figures!

It's a shame it is quite so expensive. It must put a lot of people off having their animals neutered.

We won't think badly of you!!
