Three Biggies on a Small Island Some of you may remember when that politician said that it would be best to not put too many people onto one side of Guam, a small island - because it might "tip over." Well, now the US Air Force has put a bunch of its big warplanes onto Guam. I suppose that the Air Force does not want Guam to tip over, so it has those biggies flying around the Pacific Ocean area to relieve Guam of all of the extra weight. I saw this photo of the Air Force's biggest and fastest bomber fleet the other day. The three of them were zipping along in the hazy sky over the island, almost like the three little piggies going to market. In the photo, they were rather widely spaced (biggies like that trio need lots of space), so I made a collage of several parts of the original photo to make it all fit on this page. I hope you don't mind my messing around with a USAF "official photo (clicked by a person whose name is "Smoot.") Just a word of caution to one and all: If you happen to visit Guam sometime, look around and see which side of Guam contains the most people. Then, try to stay on the other side of the island so that you don't tip the place over and dump yourself and everyone else into the Pacific Ocean. No need to worry about those biggies - the B1, B2, and B52 USAF aircraft. They will be safely overhead, doing what they are supposed to be doing - flying - not swimming. * * * * * * * * * * Image source: USAF-Smoot - Some editing by Gus Kilthau * * * * * * * * * *

@Hatley - Ms Patsie - If you get on the crowded side of Guam and then it starts to tip over, be sure to use your "floater" (Inner tube or the like) or, at least. have your waterproof wading boots on at all times.

Many despots have tried to overturn small island nations, and all they needed to do was account for the local population density...! Well I never...

@pgntwo - Friend PGN - It is all a matter of balancing. Those with you on your side of the place, and those opposed can go into the drink.

@Ceerios If you know of the Discworld, you'll be aware of the Counterweight Continent... :)

@jstory07 - Ms Judy - I should also tell you that there is one side of the island where the ocean contains giant critters who lay in wait for the next island-tipping event like the one that occurred on February 30, 1987. That was really something.

@jaboUK - Ms Janet - I would bet that you never did know that the ruler of Guam is referred to as its "kink."

We got a house-boat stuck on a sand-bar once and my sister-in-law had about 14 of us running from one end to the other trying to tip it enough to get it unstuck. Didn't work but it was fun. :)

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - It is obvious to me why your running back and forth did not rock the houseboat off of the sand bar. You had not eaten sufficient Cheerios and bananas to bring your weights up to the required level. Eat more-rock more.
