Old Sayings

Many of my friends said they had never heard the expression "If nothing breaks bigger than a frog hair" it's actually an old saying from Appalachia and I think other parts of the country. I heard these old sayings when I was growing up, although I seldom hear them now. I always loved the old expressions. They make me smile So, I am sending just a few of these old sayings out to you. Some you may have heard before. Children and fools tell the truth. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Crazy as a bessie bug. Good seeds make a good crop. Stubborn as a mule. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Busy as a cat on a hot tin roof. Scarce as hen teeth. She's got a finger in every pie. She's nervous as a cat in a room full of rockers. He doesn't have the sense that God gave a goose. She's ugly as sin. Don't sit there like a bump on a log. If the shoe fits, wear it. That's between you, me and the fence post. Throw enough dirt and some will stick. Many a tune is played on an old fiddle. The biggest frog in the puddle. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I am familiar with only 3 from the list and that is Stubborn as a Mule , She's ugly as sin and You can't teach an old dog new tricks . But i don't believe though of the third one . I learned how to operate my cellphone , iPad and their apps in my old age , through my daughter who taught me how .

And they have been in place for as long as anyone can remember with a meaning to express something.

I knew about three of these. You are correct in that the post you wrote last night (?) is gone. Did you ask alex or mylotbugs whether it could be retrieved or not? Maybe they removed it for some reason?

I've heard a lot of these plus many variations on them, as well! Maybe different parts of the country change them up a little bit!
