the sad tale of a little spider

Once upon a time an ickle spider ran across my living room floor. 'Eeep!' I quietly declared. A couple of days later I found the ickle spider sitting dead by the front door.
I prodded him.
As you do.
'Awww,' I sighed as he unfurled his many legs and gazed up at me sleepily. 'Would you like to go outside?' I enquired. My Qyzen looked at me in astonishment. 'You detest spiders, he said to me. Why on earth are you being so nice to him?'
I shrugged. I scooped him up [not with my hands, silly!] and placed him outside the front door. He was an odd looking creature, just sitting there, barely moving and looking so sorry for himself. I spent the next few hours before bed checking on him every so often. He barely moved; he was definitely alive when I pootled to bed.
I looked him up online but couldn't find him. He wasn't one of the eight most popular British spiders. Nor was he one of the lesser ones. Maybe he wasn't British. Perhaps he was here on his holybobs and just got lost. Thinking about it, he looked a bit like a tarantula, albeit a tiny baby one. I was going to take a picture of him this morning to show the internet folk, but the little rascal had gone away. Or, he was eaten by a bird.
Poor ickle spider.
[Why am I starting to like spiders ... they're creepy. But beautiful. Clever. Intelligent. Witty. Graceful. Faster than Usain. As agile as Max. *sigh*]

He was rather sweet. I did feel bad when he wasn't there this morning.

Awwww such a sad story. I was hoping for an happy ending. Poor little ickle spider! At least you tried to help him but he didn't stand a chance when it came to the big old bird.

I'm still hoping he scuttled away and found somewhere cosy to live. I hate to think of him being food in some greedy bird's belly.

@Poppylicious In my native country it is considered unlucky to kill the spiders. I pretend that I am not superstitious, but I prefer not to take risks.

I usually try and put them as far away from windows and doors as possible, but I too think they still manage to find their way back inside!

@Poppylicious They are all creepy to me. The only ones I am not afraid of are the tiny ones.

Many of them are very creepy. But there are a few who just need a bit of love and cuddles. :)

Hmmm, I'm starting to like them, but I shall swiftly change my mind if one chooses to jump at me and get stuck in my hair. Or down my top. Yikes!

But I was nice to him! If he's been telling tales I shall be having words with his mother! {When I'm at a safe distance from her, obviously.}

I love spiders. I do not harm or kill them because they help control the pest population that cause diseases like mosquitoes and teach my children to do the same. There is almost no venomous spider in the Philippines except for one specie that is rare.
That was very kind of you to give the poor spider a fighting chance to live.

I don't think I've ever intentionally killed a spider, however much I hate them. I always think it's rather mean to squish something just because it gives you the creeps and makes you scream!

Oh gosh, me neither. I had an accomplice in the form of a small tupperware box thingy. :)
