What?! Fellow Canadians, Did You Read This News?

I don’t read our local newspapers like the Calgary Sun very often. My son brought home a Calgary Sun today and this is the news that caught my attention: $1,700 limo fee for one day! No, this is not about a newly-wed young couple having a limo ride after their wedding heading to the airport for their honeymoon. It was what the government of Canada paid for our Health Minister Jane Philpott’s limo ride going to attend meetings in the Toronto area for just one day. Whew! Wait, don't react yet! According to the news our Health Minister also had to ride a special car from the same limo company to attend a July gathering of the Assembly of First Nations in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It cost the government a measly sum of $1,994.00! Whew (again)! Her office also paid $3,814 to the same limo company (owned by a certain Mr. Shirani, a volunteer on the Health Minister’s election campaign last year) for 20 trips to the airport before flying to Ottawa for ministerial business according to the news. Whew (again)! Well, I am just an ordinary Canadian citizen, working hard to support my family. I am not a Health Minister, so I just drive a Ford car to go to work. Driving a car to go to work is a necessity for me; while our Health Minister, going to work, needs to ride “luxury”cars. O, this morning I gave a couple of quarters to a homeless man begging money at a busy intersection. Note: Picture of limo - courtesy of Pixabay.

Some things can make you mad and this is one of them, how could they behave as if money come from the trees? and even if it did,one time the trees might dry up.

Typical government spending. They scream for more taxes just to provide themselves luxury. They like to spread the wealth to themselves.

@JohnRoberts she must be believing that she is the only Canadian qualified for the job. That is why she thinks she is entitled for luxurious benefits.

@sol_cee LOL . . . Prime Minister Trudeau should send all his ministers to attend seminars on how to serve the government cheaply to the Philippines. Mr. Du30 may not even charge for his service. All he needs is a kiss and . . .

Wow, that' super luxurious . Why can't she have a car instead and have a chauffeur to drive for her in her functions instead . And the Canadian government just let it spend that much ?

I did read that article and was very offended. But unfortunately, it is nothing new, it goes on all the time.

I am not just offended, my friend, I am angry. The government accepted and spent billions for refugees and here is a public servant who thinks she deserves luxury . . . while homeless, poor people are everywhere in Calgary.

Must be some fancy car. I rode in a luxury sedan from the airport the other day. It was very posh. Cost me $50.

It does seem outrageous, but seriously, I don't want to drive in Toronto. I think a regular taxi would have been much more reasonable...or maybe, an airport limo?
