What We Found In Our Garden!

When we were looking for houses to buy, it was the massive acreage and gardens that drew our attention. We fell in love with it on sight! So, when we we moved in, we headed straight for the garden to see what was out there. We recognized most of what we found, but there was one plant that we had never seen before. It was quite gorgeous actually and planted at the bottom of the garden all in a row. It had huge white flowers... kind of like trumpets, but what was really unique was the fact that there were these huge seed pods hanging from each of them. Well, today was the first day for the internet, so I went looking to see if I could find the plant... And sure enough I did! It was called Jimson Weed! I don't know how it got there, but it certainly looks as if it had purposely been planted!! And oddly enough, not one of the veggies in our garden have even been touched! It's almost as if the animals know that the seeds are toxic??

From what I have been reading, it's an annual and as long as you don't let the pods pop, you are okay. I have seen the size of the stalks... I hate to think of what the root looks like!

How disappointing that a nice looking plant should turn out to be a weed.
