A story that precedes the last, one that makes me sadder than that one.

Six years ago, we came into possession of a tiny kitten, unweaned, who was the sole survivor of a dog attack on her little feral family. My daughter's friend discovered the carnage and then found what turned out to be my Baby Cat. She never has been fully adaptable to the love bestowed by humans (except when very tiny and she knew she depended on us), but she grew to love us in her own way and I became "her" human. I still couldn't pick her up and hold her for any length of time without her protests, but she always wanted to be laying near me or on me or on the desk in front of me where she would give me headbutts and kitty kisses and purr like crazy. She recently began coming in to sleep with me having previously rejected it because it meant sharing the space with two other cats. Then, four months ago, my daughter decided to spend hundreds of dollars to buy a dog - a 10-week-old puppy, but still a dog. She brushed off my distinct concerns about Baby Cat and the trauma she'd undergone as a kitten. "She can't remember that!!" My response was something akin to bullspit. Less than three months later, my Baby Cat disappeared. We have not found her in over a month, although we haven't seen any little bodies about either. Some in our city claim to have seen her, some even providing details I never put in the flyer making me believe that, yes, she is still alive and depending on the kindness of the many cat people here. But, as with the chewed up item that got thrown at me, her disappearance is my fault. I left the door open (um - she propped the door open so the dog could go in and out). I wasn't diligent enough, etc etc etc. I miss my Baby Cat. I miss her more than I could ever have imagined. I'm not physically capable of walking from here to where she was last seen. The one time my daughter drove me through there, it was at midnight and she freaked out that I called Baby's name out the window (why the **** was I screaming out the window at midnight??!!? People are sleeping!!!) despite the fact that I am never taken there when it is light or early evening. I wasn't screaming. Believe me - if I were screaming, the entire street would have heard it. But, I do so miss my little brat cat. She loved me. She didn't just want food from me. She loved me. And, I loved her. I still do. If you pray or send white light or whatever your belief system has you do, please do it so my Baby will come home. I want her back so bad.

I’m praying for both of you, it’s a crying shame when someone else is too lazy to simply walk the dog so the kitty won’t get out. How inconsiderate and mean. If given a chance the kitty might actually get to like the puppy, it’s too little to pose a big threat yet especially if trained to be nice.

The puppy is part lab. The puppy now weighs over 50 lbs. He jumps on counters, furniture, whatever to get anything he decides he wants. She's not lazy, although she says I am. She works all day and I'm disabled and stay home. Right now, I have no healthcare, not even medicare medical - just hospitalization, so I can't get my meds renewed. I hurt so bad, so I don't do much walking at all except to go up to the bathroom and back down here to the computer. It hurts even to stand to fix myself food. But, I would never say she is lazy - she takes him out every evening and in the morning before work. during the day, it's up to me to see that he gets out into the yard. I don't have dogs. I have cats. I'm not a dog person at all. But, he can be a sweetie, but now he's like a teenager and rebelling. The other two cats stay out of his way as much as possible.

My daughter and Tucker
@rebelann He was 10 weeks when she brought him home. He was over 20 lbs then. Now he's over 50. He's a beagle lab mix. Cute, marked incredibly cute, but way rambunctious. The other two cats aren't thrilled, but the elderly one kind of stares him down. The 8 year old tolerates him (she demands that I feed her in the dog dish and both cats now eat the dog food that has the same nutritional components as cat food - I will give my daughter credit for investigating that before deciding to do it), but he thinks she'll play with him like other dogs will. She screeches at him, hisses, and it has no impact on his willingness to back off. Human intervention is necessary to stop him. He's not trying to hurt her. I know this. And, I know he'll learn over time. But, that doesn't fix the Baby Cat situation. Here is a photo of Tucker with my daughter shortly after she brought him home. She tried to tell me he would stay around that size. He's about double that now. She can't hold him like this now. He's about 7 months old now.

No wonder your kitty took off @jerzgirl that isn't a 10 week old puppy, he's probably about 8 or 9 months old and will get a lot bigger. Labs are known to get up to 80 or more pounds when fully mature.

@jerzgirl she is beautiful. It's a shame that your daughter didn't listen. Sometimes they carry fears their whole life. They may not be aware of why they are afraid but they know that they are afraid. I do hope and pray that you find her.

That's what I tried to tell her. As she would say if I were her, I'm a "grown a**" woman and there had better be no spiders anywhere near me or on me. I will explode in fear way out of proportion to the actual risks. I've been that way my entire life. I even used to have recurring nightmares about being covered in spiders in my bed. I can't stand them. I don't care what the source of the fear is (although I have my theories), just seeing photos of them make my stomach go into knots and my skin crawl. Animals are susceptible to the same kinds of psychological issues, although they are better equipped to deal with them. PTSD is real, whether you're human or fur baby. I really keep hoping that one of my Tiki sightings turns out to be a Baby Cat sighting, that she finds her way home and ventures inside to jump into my arms again.

Thank you RasmaSandra. We have "scent bait" hanging around our block hoping she can smell it if she gets near again.

I do, too. It's been over a month now. We have a new kitty who looks like our lost one from behind, but her face is entirely different as is her personality. Very friendly, very talkative, but very ready to fight our other two cats. I miss my Baby so very much.

My heart breaks for you. I really hope that Baby Cat will find her way home soon. I can feel that love you have for her in your words. I am sorry to say that your daughter is not being very nice in this situation. She should be taking you out to look for Baby Cat. I will say a prayer in hopes the Baby Cat will be back home with you soon. HUGS

I'm hoping a friend who has today and tomorrow off will drive me through town so I can call for her where she was last spotted.

OH no, this makes me so sad. I will send prayers AND white light and everything I can throw at it. I cry easily these days and I'm tearing up right now. Poor kitty. Poor you. I so hope she comes back.

Thank you so very much, Sue/CinnamonGrl. I miss her terribly. I keep thinking I see her and then I see it's Tiki who is also tabby, but her orange is very distinct and pronounced.
