Johnny Appleseed: What's Your Favorite Apple?

There are so many different types of apples (about 7000) from which to choose. My favorites are the Fuji apple and the Granny Smith. I graduated from high school with a boy who now lives in Johnny Appleseed’s house in Indiana. You can learn more about Johnny Appleseed by going to Wikipedia or Google him. My friend told me quite a few things that I didn’t know. One thing is that the Golden Delicious apple was first cultivated in West Virginia, which is where he and I graduated from High School. He also told me more about the REAL person who was called Johnny Appleseed. And then I went online and read some more about him. It’s a very interesting story. Johnny Appleseed has been pictured as someone just dropping apple seeds as he walked along, but he actually established nurseries in various places and then left them in charge of a local farmer as he continued across the country. Perhaps those who live in the USA have heard of Johnny Appleseed, but I wonder how many in other countries have heard about him. Have you?

I have heard of him, but I am from the U.S. My favorite apples are the green ones because they are so juicy and sometimes sour. I don't care for the sweet ones or the red ones at all. I had a red apple today and it was incredibly small and way too sweet for my taste.

Some people like sour and some like sweet apples. Some like red and some like green. It's interesting that we don't all have the same tastes. It's the same way with vegetables. My daughter loves beets and I don't like them at all.

Fuji and Golden Delicious are my faves, not necessarily in that order. I bet nobody outside the U.S. has heard of Johnny Appleseed

My boys had a Little Golden Book about Johnny Appleseed then he appears in a Gene Stratton Porter book I read recently. When I mentioned him here many Americans hadn't heard of him or knew very little about him.

A lot of children have heard about Johnny Appleseed because of children's story books, but most children and most ADULTS too, think that he was a fictional character, but he was VERY real.

I like Green Apples of Kashmir only. They taste differently. Very crunchy, fresh, and juicy also.

That's the type of apple I like also, crunchy, fresh and juicy. I've never heard of the Green Apples of Kashmir though. I'll have to see if I can find them.
