When I was young I used to sit on my grandpas porch and rock in his wooden rocking chair. When my daughter was a baby I wanted one so bad to rock her in but we couldn't afford any of the ones we saw. I was at Kmart on Monday night and they had outdoor rocking chairs on sale. They were originally priced $99. Most were marked down to $49 but the pretty blue ones were $16. That was perfect since I just bought two plastic adirondack lawn chairs a few weeks ago and they are the same color! So now I finally have my own rocking chair and my children are to old to rock :-( They are 12 & 8. I got pretty teary eyed thinking about it. I decided to mylot the past hour from the comfort of my new rocking chair.

It is quite relaxing to rock in the warm sunshine in them. My grandfathers used to have a padded cushion on it so it was more comfortable then mine.

@shaggin yes you can sleep when you sit on that, when you are outside with just the fresh wind blowing.

I am enjoying using it. A lot of times I just lay on the couch mylotting on my ipod. Now I go outside on my rocker while mylotting sometimes. Its nice to get some fresh air and very relaxing.

I love rocking chairs. When my daughter was born, a friend of mine had a rocking chair that needed some work done to it. She gave it to me and my then husband and I went to work on fixing it and painting it. I enjoyed rocking both of my children in that chair. I finally wore it out and had to throw it away.

That is wonderful you were able to fix it up and use it for your children! Too bad it wore out it would have been nice to pass onto them for their own children.

@shaggin My friend's family had used the chair previously so it had a lot of good years.

I always find it very comforting to rock in a rocking chair although I don't have one. I love the colour of yours - and how nice that it matches your other chairs.

I decided to move it onto my back porch. The view of all the grass and trees is a lot nicer view. It is a gorgeous day out and I have terrible anxiety so I'm sitting outside in my rocker on my back porch reading a book. Its more peaceful and I have more privacy here then if I sat on my front porch.

@JudyEv The fumes from the cars is stronger on the front porch too. Around the time that school gets out I have to close the windows or the fumes from all the buses comes in the house. We live pretty close to the school.

@shaggin We haven't lived in towns much but I could never enjoy sitting out the front in view of everyone going past. I'd be out the back too.

I feel kind of shy rocking on my porch while all the cars go by. I am so tired so I am deciding if I should write a blog or go read a book in my rocker.

Today I moved it onto my smaller porch in the back if my house. I have a lot more privacy there and can enjoy the scenery and fresh air. I want to take some time each week to sit out there and relax while the weather is nice. I can read or go on mylot on my ipod outside.

Another mylotter said the same thing that they can't use them as they get dizzy. That is awful I would hate that. I enjoyed rocking it in for about an hour yesterday while reading and mylotting.

WOW that's one beautiful rocking chair.. And Nice that it was cheaper when you bought it. That reminds me of our old rocking chair that's already been thrown out because it was too old.

This has a nice strong metal frame which should last a very long time. It is the seat material that I worry will wear out faster. I hope to have this for many years even at the low cost I paid.

Glad to know that you got your own rocking chair at a very good price. Rocking chairs are very comfortabe to sit and when you sit rocking yourself, you feel nice and comfortable. My father-in-law has a good one, which is made of bamboo in material and some copper frames. Sometimes when we visit him, my wife's family, I love to sit rocking for a little while to enjoy myself. So are the kids in the house. Take care.
