Filipinos will be having a long weekend this time. That is Saturday, Sunday and Monday. August 29, Monday, is National Holiday. It is the celebration of National Heroes Day. These heroes are the men and women in Philippine history whose acts of courage enabled the Philippines to grow as a nation. This holiday was established to celebrate the efforts of all national heroes, even if they were unknown. Among these heroes were Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, the key figures in the fight for independence from Spain. Rizal and Bonifacio have specific holidays for their honor.

Saturday is for my check - up Sunday is for my daughter's birthday. Monday is for the laundry.

I'm sure you'll all enjoy a long weekend. What sort of special celebrations will there be, if any? Parades? Festivals?

I don't know. I think there will only be a wreath laying on the heroes cemetery.

We were enjoying the long holiday since yesterday. We celebrated the City Charter day yesterday and it was a special non-working holiday.

Enjoy the long break! We'll be celebrating our Independence Day on August 31st unfortunately it's the middle of the week so no long break for us here.
