I am staying with relatives now that buy and use paper towels for almost everything. There is a roll kept in both bathrooms and in the kitchen. There is a t towel hanging on the refrigerator door and a few other on the cupboard handles, as always. I remember they were always hanging around the kitchen as it always did. But we did not have paper towels in every room.
But now my mom says that if we all use the t towels it will pass germs, which could be true, but bacteria from the air get's on the towels as well. Which she should know
because her friend got an ear infection from bacteria in the air and one of my son's got bacteria from the air in a blister on the top of his foot which in turn caused both his foot and blood to get infected. He spent 19 days in the hospital, surgery and blood therapy!
I bet if I matched what money they spent on paper towels I would have enough to go on vacation!

Your skin has staph and strep bacteria on it at all times. When your immune system is compromised or you have an open sore like a blister you can get the infection in your body. Things in the air that irritate your sinuses and lungs can give you ear, nose and throat infections. Small children around smokers get tons of antibiotic resistant ear infections, even when the smokers do not smoke around them, but have it on their clothes, skin and hair. I am in between on the paper towels. I like them for really gross messes, and if I have an illness, or someone else has an illness, I do not want to use the cloth towels and wash cloths.People who work in nursing type professions prefer paper towels. It is important if you use cloth towels to wash them daily in hot water. So there goes some of the cost savings. It is just like using tissues instead of a handkerchief.

True! Oh, don't get me wrong I am not against paper towels They are great for messy spills, etc. I do not understand. Out of habit I would just reach for the t towel to dry my hands. They were shocked and acted like it was something normal to us the paper towels to us on my hands the t towels are only for dishes. The towels in the bathroom are for her use only to dry her face after taking a shower. I have to put my towels in the dirty clothes after each shower.

What you said is right. But, washing the towels in steam and squeezing them in Dettol solution make them Germ-free. i THINK they are more health conscious.

We only use newly opened sealed paper towels to blot out excess oil on fried or deep fried foods, toilet or tissue paper in the bathroom and Kleenex for wiping and sneezing and rags for all things else. Paper towels is not for use on almost everything.

For me the cost of paper towels is irrelevant. And I don't have a germ phobia. The most important thing to me is that every time a paper towel is used it contributes to the further decimation of our forests. I pretty much only use paper towels for emergencies. A roll of paper towels lasts me about 7 to 9 months.

I think they do not spend on germ-free cotton towels available in the market. They also perhaps do not have time to wash the towels. Just use and throw may be good for them. washing them in steam and squeezing in Dettol lotion will make them Germ-free. Of course, they do not like that it seems.

I have never heard of germ free cotton towels
and if they are in the stores in the shelf for people to touch they will not be germ free no more
. The t towels that they do have they usually wash every couple of weeks but not in hot water. They will not let me wash my towels and white in hot water. I remember that my mom taught me to wash in hot water to get rid of germ. But now she says that she never told me that.

I like to have a roll around, but mostly I just like to use it when we fry bacon to seep up some of the grease from it. I often just have paper napkins from eating out in the drawer to use instead. I tend to grab several more than we really need when we do eat out.
I have no idea of them passing germs unless she is talking about touching them to get one off the roll.
We use a heck of a lot of regular towels around here, or at least my mom does. I haven't figured out yet why she has 3 dry ones over chairs and at least 5 wet ones on or in the sink at all times.
