Fire Tv Stick : First Impressions

I set the firetv stick up last night. It was very simple to set up and use. It plugs into the back of any HDMI ported television. I am sure it would most likely work with any device that has an HDMI port, but it might require audio cables as well? Not sure. Anyway, a lot of reviews stated that the menus were very amazon biased. That is to say, most of the top results would be for prime. I don't mind that so much, but havent' encountered it either. Everything I've watched has been on netflix. Another complaint was opening the back of the remote. Admittedly, this was more to do with the non voice remote, but I have no problems with the voice remote at all. I am glad I bought it, and look forward to many hours of entertainment. Oh, and you can listen to music you have on amazon (prime members) as well as access your photos. Pretty neat purchase overall. Anyone else have one or it's competitors?

I didn't think I ever would but it's within my budget and makes sense.

eek! that's not fun. I am glad we don't have to deal with that. AS much as everyone here uses the net, we wouldn't be able to stand it. Plus when my niece and nephew are here, that's all they use mostly.

My daughters bought me a Fire Stick for Christmas last year. The remote is quite difficult to open for me but Mr Croc can do it. It's one of the best presents I've ever had. I haven't used it to the full but have watched Netflix and some catch up tv, it's much better than using the computer to watch tv content.

I've read a lot of reviews about the original remote being difficult. The voice remote isn't hard for me to open but closing it can be tricky. I've never used the computer to watch t.v. because the screen I have just isn't big enough. That and I like to be on sites like this, or catching up with friends when on the computer.

I bought a cd player that hooks into my TV via HDMI and it allows me to watch Netflix, Hulu, Amazon & YouTube plus I can play my DVDs if I get tired of whats offered on those. I'll have to check to see what this item is, I do have prime so maybe it's worth taking a look see.

I've had cd players that let me stream Netflix and Amazon for the past 6 years @ScribbledAdNauseum

I am more impressed that cd players now have the functionality of playing apps like the ones you mentioned. Firetv is just like roku or any of it's competitors, but it allows you to purchase subscriptions to several networks, or even use slingtv for the same thing. It's one of those things that you either prefer / like or don't I guess.

I have considered the possibilities. We have Prime Video and normally just watch them on our computer or tablet. But the idea of the fire stick does seem kind of interesting.

I haven't tested amazon video on the firestick yet but have been told it's instaneous when accessing anything for prime.
