"Sexy".. Would you use this word to compliment a child of her looks?

. Have you ever heard people saying to little girls as young as four and even younger than that how sexy they are?. I've heard them and I don't think it is an appropriate word to describe children or to encourage them to look and act sexy. Here are the words that define sexy ... sexually attractive or exiting , seductive, desirable, alluring, inviting, sensual, sultry, slinky, provocative, tempting, tantalising .. I would never use that word to describe a child nor encourage a child to look and act and pose sexy , would you ? .. Bess.. (photo of one of the bride's maid dresses I made for a Muslim wedding) .

I think this is very wrong and conveys really negative images to children. Such stupid people. No wonder girls are still 'second-class citizens' with people saying such things to them.

I agree .. but amazingly, to many it's a positive word of encouragement ..

@epiffanie It is a sexy dress. One need not bare flesh to look sexy .

Yeah, I could use that word playfully with young adults but not the children .. That dress on the photo is not meant to look sexy ..lol .. the Muslim bride's maid wore a black veil with it ... The material is stretchable .. I forgot exactly what it's called ..

Why on earth they would call them sexy instead of pretty and cute? Something's wrong with these people.

Yes, we should be careful of what words to use when it comes to children ..

Nope, I would never use that word to describe anyone. Seems so inappropriate to me, unless of course its a woman who is very close to me.. even then it would be a rare thing to come out of my lips. I often say you look great, divine, fabulous, smart etc not not sexy.

Indeed.. even with us adults, only with people we are close with .. but definitely should not be used for children ..

@epiffanie No ma'am never with children.. Very inappropriate and unacceptable to be used on innocent children.

I think that is a terrible idea, very bad thing to say to a child.

You know, over there in the Philippines, people use this word a lot when they compliment a child and sometimes even a baby .. It's because they don't know the true meaning of this word ..

No and I do not let my daughter dress sexy. She is 12 and I make sure her shorts and skirts are not to short. My sister used to say I made her dress like she was amish.. that's an over exaggeration but you get the idea.

That's good! 12 years old should not dress like sexy adults..

What a beautiful dress! Sexy is not an appropriate description for a child. Pretty, charming, or beautiful is more appropriate.

i agree about cute, pretty, sweet. it's disturbing to say sexy even for girls older than 4. i have heard of parents saying their children have always been willful and will wear what they want.

I'd be side-eyeing the hell out of anyone who used that word to describe a child. It's not a word a normal person would use. Pedophiles, maybe.

I agree - it's completely inappropriate. And I hate to see little girls with lipstick and eye makeup on - whatever are their mothers thinking? Love that dress you made.

Yes indeed .. I don't like seeing girls as young as 4 wearing full make up posing seductively ... I've seen them on social media.. not a good look ..

It is not appropriate to call them "sexy," but just say, cute or beautiful. They should stay as innocent as children should be.

Not appropriate at all. There are so many words to describe beautiful kids but sexy is definitely not one of them.

That is a very weird term to describe a child that small. I would instead use a word like cute or adorable. They seem a lot more acceptable for a small child. The term sexy is only a word I would use to describe a wife/husband or an older girlfriend/boyfriend.

I agree with you .. But some adults use that word without thinking what it really meant ..
