I have been watching this brilliant news magazine show on CBS since it began in 1979 with Charles Kuralt. It covers what I believe all news programing should, a variety of news stories. Most news broadcasts are full of doom and gloom. It is rare that they show a balanced view of world events.
For the last twenty-two years, the host of Sunday Morning has been Charles Osgood. When he arrived, he added his own poetic tilt to the show. This week he announced he is retiring this September. I’ll miss his piano playing and his song, much like I still miss the sound of Charles Kuralt’s deep melodic voice.
I am hoping that Lee Cowen will be hired as the new host. He has been filling in for Osgood whenever he was away. He has the right gravitas for the show. His manner and his tone would continue the same ambience that has been so firmly established in the program's long history.
Here’s a blast from the past with Charles Kuralt and my kind of news:
I am looking forward to many more Sunday mornings with Sunday Morning. Would you like to join me?

@ElizabethWallace I know that everything is available online, with a very poor quality and only from my computer. I like to relax in front of the TV about one hour in the evening, but there is no YouTube on our TV.

@LadyDuck There's a way to put it there. It involves buying a small device and connecting it to your wifi. I bought the device, but have not connected it yet, so I can give no advice about it.

I am not really a television fan and only watch the odd programme here and there if it really takes my fancy. I hope his replacement is just as good and you continue to enjoy it.

Thanks. I miss the original guy. The one I hope takes the place of the retiring host, Lee Cowen, reminds me of the first host. I guess that's why I like him so much.

I still miss Charles too and Charles Osgood is a favorite. I still miss Walter Cronkite too.

I'm usually out horseback riding, followed by having the grandkids over for breakfast, on Sunday mornings. However, this show sounds good. I'll have to DVR it sometime!

I know you would enjoy it. The quirky segments and those about artists are just up your alley.
