So me and the hubby were watching an episode of Law and Order: SVU and it was a season 17 episode about a black 15 year old boy who was charged as an adult for manslaughter after him and a few other cruel kids were harassing a transgender white boy who liked to dress as a girl and he/she ended up falling over a wall, but was not pushed by the kids. He/she survived the fall and even forgave the boy who got charged. The boy also showed remorse for what he had done. Sadly though, the transgender kid died because of the head injuries caused by the fall which in turn is why the kid was charged with manslaughter. It's just so sad all around. Kids can be cruel. The parents of the transgender boy did not want to pursue manslaughter as an adult because then it would have basically been 2 kids lives lost, but they ended up perusing it as a hate crime so that it won't happen again. I feel the kid obviously should not have been cruel and harassing the transgender boy, but he was still only 15 years old and not an adult and did seem to show remorse for what had happend. In the end he was found guilty for the murder and will basically be spending half his life in prison.
What do you think about this story? Do you think justice was served or was he simply too young to be tried as an adult?

I think it depends on the crimes, They should be tried as an adult but get their punishment when they reached the age 18. They should be in a juvenile detention first because teenagers have high chance of being prison raped.
On that case, I think the boy should be in juvenile detention first and he should go to jail once he reached the age 18.

@DanieGirl80587 For sure these kids should be punished but they should not go to an adult prison right away, they will be targeted specially the boys because teenage boys have feminine features and that makes them easy target on adult prisons because of the lack of women there.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes agreed. I'd even say the same for young women as well. But like you said it does also depend on how horrible the crime was and for me if they showed any sign of remorse.

He still should know the difference between right and wrong and to love your fellow man. I think justice was served. He could have been charged with murder.

This is true, which obviously would have been way worse for him.

I think that was harsh for a 15 year old, especially if he showed remorse for what he did.

Yes exactly. He should face some form of punishment, but not half his life in jail.... :/

Yes 15 is still just a kid. I know I am not the same as I was when I was 15.
