Are there any scientific facts in the Bible? Do you know of any?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What scientific facts do you see in Isaiah 40:22? Isaiah 40:22 (New International Version) 22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

The passage is a simple (poetic) description of how anyone views the earth they live on. It doesn't involve (or imply) knowledge that the Earth is a globe. For an observer standing in open country, the world does, indeed, appear to be a circle with the horizon as its boundary in every direction and the sky does, indeed, appear to be like a tent above him. It is a common observation, too, that people at a distance are very small and appear like insects in the landscape.

I have read that the original Hebrew word that is translated to circle of the earth, actually means a sphere.. like a ball.. Does anyone know more about it..??

@buenavida According to "A Concordance of the Hebrew and Chaldee Scriptures" the Hebrew word chugh translated “circle” may also be rendered “sphere” and Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon specifically defines the Hebrew word "Chuwg" to mean "Circle and Sphere.
In looking up different translations, I found that the Douay Version translates circle as “the globe of the earth” and the Moffat as “the round earth.”
It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.

The Bible is not a book of science, but when it speaks about scientific things, it is accurate. There are certainly scientific facts in the Bible that were written thousands of years ago before any human discovered these facts. I particularly like Psalms 139:14-16 which explains our DNA which wasn't discovered by scientists until recently.
It says: "I shall laud you because in a fear-inspiring way, I am wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, as my soul is very well aware. My bones were not hidden from you...your eyes saw even the embryo of me and in your book ALL ITS PARTS WERE DOWN IN WRITING, as regards the days when they were formed and there was not yet one among them."
Our DNA is unique to each individual. In the first cells formed in the womb, the DNA is "written" that determines everything about a human baby being formed as the cells duplicate and form each cell as to what it will become. Scientists can not deny that the Creator of human life designed our formation in the womb. We are each an individual product of our DNA.
This is true of humans as well as plants and animals of every kind. And it's also why animals do not cross breed. Genesis 1:24 says that God created living souls ACCORDING TO THEIR KINDS, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its KIND and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind."

In my opinion there is more science fiction than science fact in every religious book...not just the bible.

Hebrews 11:3, By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
In the 1800's the atom was "discovered". It's so small it can't be seen.
Medical science has shown that an infants blood-clotting ability reaches its peak on the 8th day. This is the same day that God commanded males to be circumcised.
Solomon described a "cycle" of air currents two thousand years before scientists "discovered" them. (Ecclesiastes 1:6).
There's more. But I promised the kids we'd go on a walk so I best go for now.

Great examples! Also, Ecclesiastes 1:7 (New International Version) describes the water cycle, "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again."

Everyone should be recognised for what they do and God is no exception. God deserves a lot of recognition and praise for what He has accomplished and for what He will yet do.

I have heard that all planets are not really round but they appear to be round from a great distance.

I don't rely on science to find the answers to questions about truth that Jehovah has given us. But science is cool and I like it but I have faith and that is stronger in my opinion and a lot more satisfying.

From the verse alone, we can say that the world is really round and not flat as what others believe.

This was written around 700 years before Jesus Christ and about 300 years before Aristotle was born. Christopher Columbus sailed on his voyage west to the Americas in 1492 after Jesus Christ.
Apparently, "Throughout his life, Columbus also showed a keen interest in the Bible and in Biblical prophecies, often quoting biblical texts in his letters and logs." (Wikipedia) I wonder what he thought of this verse? We can ask him when he is resurrected.
