Very sad news today, as Gene Wilder was an actor that made me laugh so much for so many years watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He made me think of chocolate and having a candy bar with a golden ticket in a different way. I remember the stores in my area even had a golden ticket offer and you could get free candy. I won a free candy bar and thought of the movie while enjoying the bar.
Gene did many roles over the years including Blazing Saddles, Bonnie and Clyde, and Young Frankenstein. He was on television and wrote books. It was sad for me when his wife Gilda passed away many years ago and he spent countless hours raising money for cancer research. I knew he had Alzheimer's and he passed at 83 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He will be missed by so many people and I plan to watch some of his movies this week.

I agree he will live on in our hearts and we will remember the great times we shared with him on the big screen. I even remember his television show. Very sad day

I hope so also, as they were so in love with each other. It was sad for me when she passed and now the world has to say good bye again. He will be missed.

@KristenH I know more research money needs to be used now to stop this disease. I watched a good friend forget everyone that she knew and it was sad at the end. She didn't even know her children or husband and watching them try to cope was painful
