What I thought of Sling TV

I figured I'd give my own quick review on it as I know several people here who don't have cable or are trying to save money by cutting the cable bill. I tried sling t.v. through my firestick and I didn't like it. I didn't end up using the full 7 days of the trial. Fifeteen minutes was all it took for me to decide it wasn't for me. The channel options were alright, and so were some of the add ons for only $5.00 more etc. However, the quality of the picture and the fact that it kept buffering was just too much. Also, while some channels had shows you could watch at any time, not all channels did. I realize that sling t.v. is essentially it's own cable company, and that all they are really doing is giving a cheaper option to broadcast. However, you can purchase subscription to channels like starz through amazon prime and have no commercials, and have a more thorough option of things to watch. Not to mention the picture quality is much better and there was no buffering. I think sling t.v. is a good idea, but it's still in it's infancy and they need to work on picture quality and download / buffering speed. Sling TV would be $20.00 per month for 25 channels. There were additional options, including Spanish speaking television. Have you used sling t.v. and had different results?

Then you do not have a good Internet connection. You Internet may work well for browsing on your computer. But if you have a strong signal, and get Roku 2 - for your TV... You will never want anything else. I am sold on Sling TV...and won't use anything else. Like cable or satellite TV, it goes down sometimes. But for what I get for $30 a month... I would not change it for the world!!!

It's not my internet connection. We have high speed internet and I have used apps like netflix, amazon instant video, etc for a long time with no problems. Maybe slingtv doesn't work very well on the firestick, I don't know, but everything else I view has great picture quality and no buffering.

@ScribbledAdNauseum -I promise you...the same happened to me until I changed my Internet service. And once I used the Roku device with my TV...all that changed. I have thousands of selections to choose from, and many of it is free through the Roku device. It may not be for you...but you can't say it is bad. I have tried Amazon products and as far as I am concerned, they all suck! Everyone's experience is different.

@teresatrotter well I CAN say that it is bad. However, as you've well said, we don't necessarily have to agree. I am glad it works for you, and I'm sorry you aren't a fan of amazon products. I suppose it's a matter of agreeing to disagree.

I had a stick with Verizen and felt the same way about it. It gave me access to the internet and some TV channels. I was trying to save when I was out living on my own back in 2009. It was the pits. I hate buffering. No haven't used Sling TV just the stick through Verizen and the Cable One we have now.

My amazon stick works fine, it's just the sling t.v. subscription that I did a trial for I didn't like. With this firestick the only investment, other than the purchase of the stick itself, was for starz. I decided to get it for a few shows and plan to keep it because it has Clue,my favorite movie!

This was just my review, I would look into more reviews before saying "no" completely. @jstory07 I have high speed internet here, and was the only one on at the time but was experiencing the problems I listed here. It's not for me but I am glad you love it. @teresatrotter
