When My BFF Came To Stay

The summer of 1986 was a good one for me. My BFF who lived in Oklahoma came to stay for a few months in about late February I believe. She stayed for about four or five months. It was great and we haven't gotten to see one another since. I live in Idaho where she used to live. She moved with the rest of her family to Oklahoma where they were originally from. So, she had broken up with her boyfriend and I was single at the time. So we were two single girls on the prowl as it were. She is a trivia fanatic and listened to the local country and western music radio station day and night. She always won a free entry to the horse races or lunch somewhere in town about once a week. We went out every Wednesday and Friday or Saturday night. I liked to go to Shorty's in Garden City. They had a great house band and the people who came in there were usually cordial and fun. So we would take about two hours to get ready after work and listen to music or maybe have a drink or both. One night I was in the bathroom putting on my make-up using the bigger mirror. All of a sudden I let out this earth shattering scream. My BFF comes running with a kleenex in hand thinking I had seen one of the huge shoe string spiders that seemed to live in our tub drain. "No! It's a grey hair!" My first grey hair and I was only 34! Ikes!
