I had posted here about my sister in law who died of breast cancer. She was severely suffering her illness for couple of years to the point that she asked my husband to shoot and kill her to end her sufferings. She also asked her mother to kill her. We really cried when we heard about it. She passed away last August 28, 2016. What would you feel when a very ill person close to you ask you to kill her to end her sufferings?

Never heard that with my mother-in-law. Whenever she is pain, she is singing praise song. Oh I miss her!

Really? I'm sorry to know about mother in law. But my sister in law was really in severe pain for years. You can imagine how painful it was when the skull in her head becomes big due to the cancer cells, also her bones.

I couldn't take or make such a decision without having an immense impact on my psych. I am a very emotionally driven person and if any of my loved ones wanted that.... gosh! too heartbreaking to even imagine. Sorry!

That is sad, supposedly it is legal here now if you ask a doctor to do it.

Yes, it's legal especially if the family will sign a waiver or consent that the doctor will do it. But it's really painful for us to know about it.

I am glad that we have an option here in Switzerland, we go to a clinic where we can ask to stop our suffering.

@Macarrosel It is more guilty to ask to someone to kill you. Even if it's for the good cause, the one who kills will go to jail.

@LadyDuck Yes, you're right. My husband and my mother told my sister in law that they will go to jail if they will do that to her.

It's so sad. Really heartbreaking to see her sufferings. Maybe now she's happy because she suffers no more.

That is why our comfort must be given to them. We never know how their suffering is. It could be more than what we know. All that we can do is to let them feel how we care for them-- this is the least thing we can do.

Yes, you're right. That's the only best thing we can do for sick people like my sister in law.

I don't know if i can do that to a person, It's not that I want them to suffering but ending their lives, I think that's not up to us. Im unsure, its not easy to yes for some reason even though I know it's euthanasia

We do not have here mercy killing in the Philippines, if there is many ill patients might have resorted to it.May she rest in peace, so pitiful.

If that person was very sick, then I would find a doctor that would do it.

I would be very sad and could feel the pain she felt. It is against the law if someone would take her life though she wished for it. May she rest in peace!

I don't think I could do it, but if I had to watch a loved one suffering day after day, I might.

Really? Well, I cannot imagine myself doing it. Maybe I will just ask the doctor to do it.

@Macarrosel I don't believe a doctor would kill a patient. they will take off life support if the family requests it.

I would have to think very hard about what to do in that situation. I would not want them to suffer. I know you are talking about humans, but, I do have a situation that happened like that. I had a dog and she got sick and I tried everything I could to get her well again, but, she did not get better and I could not let her suffer so I had to put her to sleep. It was so very hard for me.
