I'm So Excited!

After almost a month of getting frustrated over having to submit so much additional information to the Financial Aid department, I received an email yesterday around 5:30pm.
The email stated that I have cleared the verification process as of 9/1/16 and my financial aid award letter should be generated within 3-5 business days.
I am so excited that I can hardly stand myself
. This means that I will be able to start online classes in October. Of course, this will depend on how much the award letter gives me. I am hoping to start out by taking two classes. Then, once I have adapted to going back to school again, I will go full time.
I just wanted to share this great news with everyone. I hope you all have as great a day as I am having right now! Happy Friday!

@ria1606roy Thank you! I am a little worried to be going for a degree at my age but I am determined. The classes will be online so I don't have to worry about being in a class with 18 year olds and then me at my age...lol.

@simone10 lol It took me 10 years at least to get my AS and I never did go back to get my BS. I find that as I get older, I don't enjoy being graded lol But I may just take Great Courses to continue learning without the degree potential.

@BelleStarr It will probably take me a long time to get this degree because more than likely, I will be part time. That way I can use the grant and the subsidized loan. It I use the unsubsidized loan, there is interest involved.

Thank you! It all depends on how much the courses are. I emailed my admissions counselor to call me on Tuesday. I was awarded both a pell grant and student loans. I am not going to use the loans since I have no way of paying them back so it will have to be the grant which isn't a lot but it's better than nothing. It should at least pay for one course so I may be 70 when I graduate but that's okay...lol

@Jeanniemaries It really will be an adventure. At 60 years old, it has been a very long time since I was in school so it should be interesting to say the least...lol.

At age 60 and with not a lot to do to keep me busy, I wanted to go back to school. I always wished I had gone to college when I was young but life just got in the way. I don't think you are ever too old to learn so that is what I'm going to do.

I am going to take online classes at SNHU (Southern New Hampshire University). They have quite a few bachelor degree programs and the one that interested me is for Creative Writing. So, I'm going to take that and use Psychology as an elective.
