Favorite "Car" Songs #8 - "Highway Star"

#8 in my Favorite "Car" Songs series belongs to legendary classic-rock band Deep Purple and their classic tune "Highway Star."
British rock band Deep Purple have, in spite of numerous lineup changes, been going strong for decades now. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band is best known for their classic tune "Smoke on the Water," with it's instantly recognizable guitar riff, although there is more to this band than that single riff.
Deep Purple's 1972 album Machine Head contained not only "Smoke on the Water," but another classic, "Highway Star.
According to Wikipedia, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and vocalist Ian Gillan improvised the song for a reporter on their tour bus, and played it later that night onstage.
The song has been covered by the likes of GWAR, Type O Negative, and Chickenfoot.
While not as popular as "Smoke on the Water," "Highway Star" remains a fan favorite and a classic in it's own right.

The more I hear this song it grows on me. Musically it rocks! Such a fast paced tempo... Organist Jon Lord claimed that the organ and guitar solos were based on Bach-like chord sequences. (according to Wikipedia)
