It's Labor Day "Holiday" in the USA

Many people have the day off of work. However some people don’t, especially if they are involved in retail sales.
Furniture stores have BIG sales on Labor Day, as do department stores and all the CAR dealerships run sales on Labor Day.
Restaurants are open, of course, and even grocery stores, because people are having cook-outs and family outings.
So, while many people don’t have to “labor” today, many people DO have to work on one of the busiest retail days of the year. It doesn’t seem fair somehow to me.
What do you think?

There are lots of people who would rather work through the holidays and give their co-workers a day off, but of course not everywhere does this happen. Hopefully the ones who do have to work will earn a bit more for holiday pay but this doesn't always happen either. I suppose it would be a good day to thank anyone who has to work and serves us today.Maybe a smile and kind word to retail salespeople and a little bigger tip to restaurant workers.

Good ideas! We should be more aware of people who DO have to work today and thank them.
