He was a famous tap dancer and vaudeville performer from a very early age. He became popular in the 1920s and 30s. His real name was Bill Robinson. He was born here in Richmond, Virginia and was probably best known for dancing on the stairway in a movie with Shirley Temple, although he had many other roles. Have you ever seen that movie? I think it was called “The Little Colonel.”

My daughters have danced a contemporary ballet piece to the music Mr Bojangles and I had to make them really ragged looking outfits. just stunning

It was a good movie. Mr. Bojangles is definitely a celebrity here in my area, because he was born in Richmond, VA
