A special job order ;) .. a request from an elderly lady in her 80s who is living Poland.. This is the dress she wants to wear to her funeral.. She thought of the design and chose the colour herself .. She imagine herself wearing it while lying in her coffin ..
It's a privilege sewing it for her ;) .. I wish I met her in person though.. But most of all I hope this dress hangs in her closet for many more years before she gets to wear it.. I put my heart into this dress just like I always do when I work on other dresses for special occasions ..
Her daughter who had it made for her mom picked it up yesterday morning. She was so happy. She said her mom would be delighted. apparently her mom's been waiting for it for quite a while now but she just found me on the internet a week ago..
Have you ever thought of what to wear when you die?.. I've never thought about it myself but now I think I will make myself something really nice to wear just incase my kids decide to have a viewing against my will ..lol ..

It is usually the gown we use as godparents during weddings; the usual Filipino terno dress made of pina or jusi fiber; and it is white or cream in color.

I measured the daughter and just made some allowances because she said her mom was little larger and shorter ..

My mother in-law wore the dress I made for her .. she looked so peaceful at the viewing .. and then she was cremated ..
So I guess it depends on the family if they have viewing and they want their dearly beloved to look presentable before the cremation ..

@epiffanie It probably costs a lot so I don't think I would have a viewing before cremation. I'm going to use Eternal Reefs and have my remains put into a coral reef.

I know I want to be buried in something very sparkly and beautiful. I only want a family viewing, but closed casket for the public.
ps: a very pretty dress you made for her.

Oh dear. It's a lovely dress, but I wish the lady would wear it before then. Enjoy it. And then, if it is still good by that time... I like that red dress behind it, a lot. Did you make that, too?

well it is a lovely dress, although I am with you, I hope she either has years before she wears it, or decides to enjoy it before the afor mentioned reason she had it created

What a request!
And I also wish that she won't wear it too soon.

That is a lovely dress. I'm sure the lady will be thrilled with it. I too hope she doesn't get to wear it for ages.

That is a very nice dress and I am sure it will be very nice on her when the time arrives. I think when people are elderly they think of those things. My mom had her dress picked out before she passed and it made it easier when the time arrived. I have never really thought about it. I am sure whoever is in charge will know me enough to pick out something appropriate for that time.
