A Lost Shoe

A few weeks ago we spent a pleasant day in London. We were strolling around Hyde Park when I saw a child's shoe on top of the railings.
I found myself pondering how child and shoe had become separated. Although there is probably a very simple, unremarkable explanation for this, I'm sure you could create all sorts of stories around it.
Was the shoe lost or was it removed deliberately? Perhaps the child wanted to vent his/her anger at being made to wear sensible brown sandals instead of the trendiest trainers. Or perhaps the shoe became dislodged as the child clambered eagerly onto the railings in pursuit of a Pokemon character.
What do you think the story might be?
I took a photograph as I thought it was quite a poignant image - this small shoe waiting. I wonder if anyone ever claimed it.

I saw a single running shoe in the middle of the road the other day, and wondered the same thing. So many stories, I will admit, yours makes a better photo graph than my found shoe would have, had it been in a safe place to stop and take a photo

I wonder if there is a mother somewhere wailing that those shoes cost x and now one has disappeared.
