Would you marry at first sight?

. There's this reality show called "Married at First Sight".. A social experiment they say.. People were matched by three Relationship Experts and couples met for the first time on the day of their wedding.. It's weird to me how people can make a promise to love one another on the day they met, go on honeymoon and live together to find out if they were meant for each other. It is weird how people can kiss intimately on the day they first met.. Times have changed the way people go about things. I am a very liberated person but if I was still single, no matter how desperate I am to find someone to love, I can not and would not marry at first sight. Would you consider that option to find a life partner?. Bess .

I don't think so... Even in arranged marriage, I think the couples should be given a chance to get to know each other in more than a day...

Yes I agree with you .. there are arranged marriages is some cultures that only allow the couples to meet on that day of their wedding ..

It's hard to build trust on first sight and date for us men.. i am sure the case is same with women too. I used to fall at first sight in 20s but not anymore.

@epiffanie I mean, she would have to be filthy rich for me to fall in love with her at first sight! If she's just "normal" rich, I would have to at least find out her name first before I fell in love with her! lol

I can't do it too. I must know the person well first before marrying him.

Marry at first sight! Oh dear, that is too dangerous and want dare do that. It is better to know very well the person you will spend your whole life with so I believe marriage should not be this fast.

Never . We have to know a person very well before we commit ourselves , much more be married to them . What if the person was previously convicted for a heinous crime .

That is very difficult if you live in the Philippines where there is no divorce, it's like putting a rope with a large stone on my neck it took me a long time to decide I wanted to get married.

Times have change .. There's no divorce in the Philippines, but people can get annulment .. and plus I noticed that a lot of young people over there just live together without getting married ..

Honestly I would not allow another ( no matter how knowledgeable they are) to decide my life. Nor will I marry a person the first time I meet them. These shows are playing with other peoples lives .

@sofssu I watch it to try to understand why some people do put themselves out there .. still don't understand why .. But I don understand why the producers are doing it .. I'm sure they make a lot of money creating this program..

@epiffanie some people get lured by their few minutes on being on TV or fame.. I just can't understand that kind of crap/

Gone are the days when a young man had to write lots of loveletters (I was good at it) - - and had to wait months for the woman, the apple of his eyes, to say yes. In fact, I got just one girlfriend who said yes, I love you. The others always said - - "I don't know!" . . I only knew that they loved me when I stole a kiss and they did not get mad.

Yes indeed ..apparently, these days, they just just use texting and already decided to be "together" before they even met in person .. times have changed .. But in my days, you would have gotten a slap across the face if you steel a kiss from a young woman .. In my parents' generation, steeling a kiss would have landed you in court .. LOL .. .. Yes, times have changed ..

No way would I be doing that either but times have changed so much. I guess they think if they're not suited they'll just get a divorce.

In this experiment, I think even though they had a wedding ceremony and said their wedding vows, they never signed a legal marriage contract ... If they found that they are suited to one another, then they can apply for their marriage to be legalised .. They don't need to file for divorce if they don't get along ..

@epiffanie They stress from the very beginning it is a legal marriage. But in society today too many people take divorce as the easy way out.

I've been watching the show and have been thinking about this the first season. I know for sure that I would trust professionals to match me up with a partner, but not married at first sight I don't think. I think you have to be pretty desperate to do that... no disrespect to those who have done it. The two couples from the first season have stayed together and now Jamie is pregnant. Both of those couples seem to be happy. And for two who have failed, there is going to be a spin-off show.

I am fascinated by this show because I could not yet understand why people would marry at first sight .. But I want to see them successful in finding their life partners .. and it's wonderful that even just one couple is starting a family together ..

I have watched and show and found it interesting. One couple that I know of are still together and she was pregnant but recently lost their baby which was sad. They didn't even really like each other at the first but they said they grew to love each other. It is a bit odd to me and I could never do it. I would have to know a person before I married them.

The generation of my parents married that way...some of my aunt's saw their husband on first night after wedding! Sounds really really weird for me! But they still manage to spend their life at the best! I would never do that ...!

When I was in my early 20s, I met and fell in love with a beautiful gentleman from India who called me 'kanama' ( he said it means beloved ) .. He wanted to marry me but he wanted us to live in first which I wasn't comfortable .. his parents arranged for him to marry someone he hasn't met nor seen even in photos .. It was so sad when we said goodbye ... :(.. I'm glad for you that you are not following that path ..

No... I don't believe in love at first sight. Its just an physical attraction. Love is gradual process. Takes like, attraction & trust to build a relationship & understanding in addition to this three for marriage.
