Liechtenstein That’s the tiny little country between Switzerland and Austria. It’s actually a principality. We enjoyed seeing the castle there but, there wasn’t a whole lot more to see on a quick stop of the bus tour. I was there because I had earned a FREE trip to Switzerland. A funny experience involved getting my Passport stamped so that I could show that I had been to Liechtenstein. When we came into the airport at Zurich, they would NOT stamp my passport and I was so disappointed. The man said, “It hurts my arm to stamp all the passports. We don’t do that anymore.” I was so shocked. I thought that was the idea of having a stamped passport, to show that you came into the country legally. Oh well. Anyway, when we got to Liechtenstein, we found that there was a small visitor center where they would stamp our passports for a fee. I think it was $2 at the time, but we had to stand in line for over an hour to get it stamped. I was in Austria and Germany on that trip also, and my passport has none of those stamps, either. I am disappointed.

It hurts his arm? Just as well every country doesn't have guys who don't stamp passports because it hurts their arms!

Yes, I was disappointed but I guess it could be tiresome and even painful. He was not a young man.

@JudyEv I wish I had insisted though for him to do just mine. I guess that would have been selfish.

@IreneVincent I have to admit a repetitive action can become quite painful.

Liechtenstein is just 10 minutes by bus from my home and yes you do not need to have your passport stamped when going into Liechtenstein. Im hearing this for the first time from you, l did not know there is a place they stamp passports there,Glad you had a chance to visit, this is one of the few countries/principality that many people do not know exist.

It was quite a few years ago so things might have changed since then. But yes, I do have the stamp on my passport and I had to pay a fee to get it. Which I was happy to do, since it's the only proof I have of being in Europe.

@miniam We were on vacation in Luzern, Switzerland, but the bus tour they had arranged for us took us to Austria, Germany and Liechtenstein.

Thank you that you shared your experience here. One of my dreams is to visit Liechtenstein too. It is the least problem according to me that one could be without those stamps. I have identity card by the European Union so no stamps anymore. The most important is that you had this travel experience.

I really wish that I had kept a travel diary of all the places that I have been. I can't even remember all the dates and I should have written them down and kept track of all my trips. I should have taken more photos too. I really suggest to any who are still traveling the world to keep a diary of every place you visit and the dates and important things that you did and saw. And take lots of photos, too.

@WriterAI I thought that I would remember better than I do. So, it's always BEST to write things down.
