Educational Lunch with Another Member of MyLot

Today, @ElizabethWallace and I had lunch together. While we always discuss a wide range of topics, high on our list today was sharing everything we had learned about blogging and setting up our professional facebook pages.
The blogging topics we cover are completely unrelated and geared to different age groups. Her blog is Road to Free College and that is also the name of her professional Facebook page. My blog is Baby-Boomer-Retirement and my professional Facebook page is DeborahDian.author, because I often post MyLot articles and other types of writing on my Facebook page. I needed a page that was broader than just retirement.
However, even though our topics are different and we appeal to different age groups, we have discovered that we can learn a great deal from each other.
In fact, I have been incredibly impressed by how quickly @ElizabethWallace was able to jump in and, within a few weeks, teach me things that I did not know, even after having been a blogger for over six years!
The waiter at the restaurant was very patient and pleasant when we both pulled out our laptops and, sitting next to each other, compared notes and tried out different things.
Have you had the opportunity to get to know any other MyLot people in person? Do you ever get together with other writers? Do you find that it is a good way to expand your horizons and learn new things?

aw, ya gals did lunch 'gain 'n i didn't get to make 't! i could use me some learnin', lol. no ma'am, i've ne'er met 'nother mylotter yet (fingers crossed fer december...) nor do i get to be 'round authors. i doth believe i live'n a bubble 'f sorts these days. i really need to get 'out there'!

@MarymargII - Yes, there are times when I simply cannot do a "beat" article, since I already have at least one regular article I do every day for DVN, plus my weekly blog post and I like to spend a little time on MyLot every day. It can get to be too much!

I've read articles lately about how to keep our brains active and engaged as we age. I think trying to figure out the poorly laid out social media we are both using is great for our brain health, although outrageously frustrating at times. Thanks for all your help and encouragement. P.S. We need that cute waiter to take a new photo. We both look much better now than before.

@ElizabethWallace - I agree that we need a new photo. We'll get one the next time we have lunch together! I also agree that this is a good way to keep our brains active ... even though it can be incredibly frustrating at times.

I think I am the only myLoter in Calgary! . . . Our friend, @paigea, is the only one I know from Alberta. But then I guess she lives 400 plus kilometers away from where I live.

@paigea - I met Elizabeth in a writer's group in our community. Then, I gave a talk about writing online and she joined Bubblews. After that, we both switched to MyLot. Meanwhile, we began getting together with another writer we know for lunch once a month. It has been fun.
