Tossed them out after mom died

I'm not a hoarder. In fact, I'm the opposite, I think. When mom dies I kept a picture of her when she was 18 and when she and dad married. I kept about two things of both mom and dad and got Rid of the rest. Qmom was the opposite. She kept everything she held value to. She gad magazines nread feel 10 years or more. I got rid of them and she had a fit. She really needed counseling for her addiction. When mom got so sick she couldn't protest I started going through her things. After she died -I tossed all of mom's clothes out rather than give them to the good will because she had bad gangrene in her feet and legs so her clothes stank after being washed. Soon when mom died almost everything went. Same with dad. I kept both their bibles Picture by Pixabay. Mom loved the northern lights.

I don't think you would save things that smelled like a skunk.

I have had to give away my motherĀ“s clothes. Fortunatly they were in the best shape so I have given part of it away. The rest will go to a home. I believe that memories are better than pictures.

I like memories in my head rather than things. I've always been that way.

my mom was not much on keeping things but i kept all i could of hers to pass on to kids and grandkids. i am a terrible hoarder. i think it comes from not being able to shop much when i was young because we were so poor

@OreoBrownie I don't really do that any more. was a time I was poor, I reused margarine bowls and such for storing left overs, etc. lol

To me hoarding is when you can't use a room or you can't walk through the junk. Some folks save their trash.

My husband keeps everything. I cannot convince him to get rid of unused items. I hope to go first, I hate the idea to have to go through all those things.

I can understand that. I would throw out some of her magazines when she was asleep. She got so mad when she found it out.

Some people can be hoarders, and sometimes I am guilty of that in the past; but when I realized they occupy too much space, I gave some of it to relatives.

I keep things that hold a lot of memories for me. I could never get rid of anything that my mom or dad gave me. It has so much sentimental value.

It's fine until it gets in your way of walking in your house.
