This is such a poignant song. I think everybody has experienced this feeling. Time slips away, and there are just things we just don’t get to.
When our kids are little, we are young, and caught up in our own drama. A lot of us experienced this when we were kids. Our parents didn’t notice how the things they were doing affected us.
When he wrote this song, John Fogerty was in the midst of a divorce, and had a young son. A repeat of what he had experienced from another point of view, as the child, when his own parents split.
He was also on the verge of another life change, splitting with his band.
Someday, you will understand, but someday never comes.
This is one of my Favorite songs, in no particular order.
