A very Anglophile afternoon

It's been a little chilly today, so I made myself a mug of Scottish Breakfast tea to sip while rocking the baby. The tea then made me want some toast to go with it, so (after putting the baby down to nap) I made myself some buttered toast with Marmite. While munching on my toast, I remembered that I still need to catch up on Downton Abbey, so now I am watching episodes of it while working online.
Tea, Marmite toast, and Downton Abbey... what a cozy sort of afternoon I'm having!

Sounds very English! Have you ever tried Vegemite?

I haven't, but I understand it's very similar to Marmite. Do you like it? How do you use it?

@spiderdust I know many Aussies love it - as I do - and many of other nationalities can't stand it. It needs to be spread thinly which is where some go wrong I think. It tastes quite salty and is perhaps an acquired taste.

@JudyEv Yeah, I started out spreading a very thin layer of Marmite on toast too. A little goes a long way! I use a slightly thicker layer now, as I really like it.
Bovril is another similar brand, although it also includes beef stock as an ingredient.

Sounds like a nice relaxing afternoon. Everybody needs one of those every now and then.

It's been very nice! It was all too brief (only one episode before kids came home from school and the baby woke), but I'm glad I got to enjoy it.
