Almost got their line cut

Philippines

This afternoon, a staff from the electric company went to the house and intends to cut the meter in one of our tenants. But mom was able to stop him and decides to have them talk with the tenant's staff. It turns out that it's holiday yesterday, and now her boss is in the line to pay the bill in their office. I went there and ask how did it go. The staff had a talk with a different line cutter a month ago, and learned that for every electric meter you disconnect, they get bonus from it. That's totally sick , it's not enough that they fare was too high and meters can be manipulated, they get paid for disconnecting your meter. Aren't we milking them way too much already? It's just not fair. But the staff told me as well that if your bill is less than fifty dollars at least, they won't bother sending people to disconnect you. Like that's gonna happen here

There was a month that I was so engrossed with my PC work that I forget it was the due date of my electric bills. My line was cut. That is why I asked assistance from somebody and she readily assisted me with finances.

There are times that these men ask for a certain amount from the owner of the meter so that they won't cut the line.

That's too bad. I guess it is because there are more fees to pay when you get disconnected. For example, the reconnection fees, the late fees etc. Some even ask for a replacement meter! So yes, these people try to milk you for everything that they could get.

They should work with people to pay their bill especially if they have children.
