What A Shock

Yesterday I got quite a shock when I went to pickup a refill for one of my medications. The price had gone from $15 to $758.11 for a three month's supply. I couldn't believe it.
I didn't know what to say. It is a life saving drug that I take for my lungs. It helps me wirh breathing, and boy do I like to breathe.
I stood there for a few seconds totally speechless then finally asked if the insurance part had been subtracted. Yes, it had. This is now what I will need to pay for this drug that I so desperately need.
I am not sure what to do at this point. I am trying to get help but am not sure which way to turn. I seem to keep getting the run around.
Anyway, one thing for sure,, I will not and cannot pay this much for one medication. Especially when I take so many other medications.
It's getting to where you can't afford to try to stay alive.

OMG, that is just sooooo wrong @HazySue . I was just diagnosed with Ischemia (heart muscle doesn't get enough oxygen). So depending on what the doctor prescribes and what Medicare & United Health Care does or does not cover, I could be in a world of doo-doo too.

@HazySue Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think it's their way of population control.

It is sad when you have to choose to live or not because you can not afford the medication that is needed to keep you alive. Why did it go up so much in such a short period of time? It makes no sense. The prices of medication is ridiculous. I have coverage but I have to pay upfront and then they reimburse me 80% but I don't always have the money upfront to get my meds when I need them. I hope you are able to get help with the cost. I will keep you in my prayers.

@Happy2BeMe the thing is this medicine has been over $1500.00 a month. My insurance was paying most of the cost until I hit a little known bump where I end up paying 58%.

That is a huge jump in price. . . it's not just a few $ increase but. .wow. Do you know why there is such an increase in price?
Sure makes me glad that all prescriptions and medications are totally free where I live, never need to pay a penny!
