Deplorable and proud of it!

At first I was shocked that Hillary Clinton would call half of Trump supporters "a basket of deplorables, homophobic, Islamophobic,..." Then I realized that many of her supporters probably agreed with her. Still, she's insulted a huge number of American voters and I hope that translates to more "deplorable" people showing up to vote. I'm proud to be a deplorable American.

Thanks, Dena. She has no idea what she's set in motion.

@1creekgirl Totally agree with you on that. I think she angered more than she'll ever realize.

@Dena91 Fragments of conversations or speeches mislead people. Be sure you read the whole thing.

I will second this emotion, even though a lot has changed since then. But not my position on Trump.

Do you recon he'll be elected again? I want a Republican for sure, but I'm not sure what he'll be able to accomplish fighting against the Dems again.

@porwest I really think DeSantis would be good, but like you said, who knows.

@1creekgirl At this point I have no idea. The country is SO divided, in a way unlike I have ever seen before frankly, and both have so much baggage right now. I mean, if it's a mandate on Biden's failure and if Trump's only evaluating factor is his performance at least in terms of policy, and the idea that his policies will be similar to his former presidency, MAYBE it's a shoe in for Trump? But I really have no idea. I do think that Trump is much more popular than anyone will give him credit for, and he did get 10 million more votes in 2020 than he got in 2016. If the antics of the dems have backfired as they should, his support may be even stronger in 2024 and it could be a landslide. But who knows? I do wish it would have been someone else on the republican side who could have taken the lead, and even remarked once or twice that it would have been an awesome move for Trump to have stepped aside and endorsed a candidate instead of run. But the one thing I know is that it's down to Biden or Trump, period. I don't think anyone has a chance on the republican side of beating him, so those are our choices. I think Trump is the CLEAR choice in 2024. But again, it's almost impossible to know anymore or even make a close guess.

I'm not necessarily a Trump supporter, but she has no right calling half of America "deplorable." Just for that, I will add myself to her list of "deplorables."

I don't wish her any harm, but I sure hope she doesn't become our president.

It's our duty and privilege to vote, but I believe we need to consider God in our decision.

Hi there. I am from Scotland so don't profess to knowing that much about what really goes on in American politics - apart from what the pro Democrat BBC feed us. The press are much the same. I find it strange that the choice of candidate from both the Republicans and the Democrats seem more showbiz and not really statesperson like politicians were when I was younger. Is Trump really as bad as the press here say and Hilary also had had some bad things thrown her way. I must start to pay more attention as I did back when Obama won. I quite like Trump as he does build fabulous golf courses- he built one here on the outskirts of Aberdeen. A beauty. Not too sure if I would support any candidate who was homophobic though. Or Islamophobic. I think the consensus in the UK is for Clinton to win. Anyway the world waits and it won't be long until we find out who wins. All I would ask of who ever wins is that they don't make America an insular state where anyone who doesn't fit the American version of normal is scared to visit. All this talk of putting walls up at borders is non sense isn't it Oh wait - we in Scotland had a wall to keep the English out. Maybe I shouldn't talk about any other country becoming insular.

yeah, i'm not really into this political race because i'm not a fan of either option, but what she said was totally wrong. seriously. i don't understand why more people aren't up in arms about it. i know trump supporters who are none of those things and have reached their decision with intelligent consideration. I don't like the generalizations that she made.

That was only a small portion of what she said. You do not fit into this part of her talk, but in the other part that the media didn't bother to report.
