I am looking forward to join job once again once I am done with my pregnancy. I want to know how do you guys judge company before you decide to apply? Do you gather information from a old friend working there already? Or you look for online reviews.Or its just a word of mouth which spreads through market? I am really curious.Because most of the jobs I have done before have given me not so good experience.Last job was worst case.Boss there was psycho who complain to me that I speak too little. When I started speaking more ,most of the information I told about myself was used against me latter. Finally I got tired and left job. I mostly doing freelancing from home right now.But I need to join job soon as addition of child to family are going to increase our expenses.

I think that the best is to gather information from people who already work (or worked) there. I do not think that the review you can find online are reliable.

@piya84 There are plenty around. It's hard to find a great Boss. Good luck for your job.

Watch out of red flags. You'll visit the company at least once, so ask yourself: are there women in leadership positions? Is there any ethnic group that's not represented? Do people talk informally among themselves? Does the company invest in good offices and work material? Are clients happy with this company? This last point can be researched online.

I think you can build portfolio in the meantime and you can build the resume in between. Make sure you get referrals so start making friends who can refer you to their company.
