There will be 2 Live action Mulan movies to be created in 2017

Mulan is one of the most popular Chinese Legends. It is about a young girl who pretended to be a boy so her sick elderly father won't fight the war because China is in need of soldiers.
I think most people are familiar with the Disney animated movie about her. The Disney version is more light hearted and less violent than the actual story but it became part of many kid's childhood. Disney will be making a Live action Mulan. according to rumors they will choose Asian actors for the film. I heard they want a Chinese girl on her late teens or early 20's to play Mulan.They also want a girl who can sing. Disney's live action version will follow the plot of the cartoon they made years ago.
Sony Studios also wanted to make a Mulan movie. Their version will be more adult oriented. It is said to be more darker and loyal to the source material than the Disney versions. The war were Mulan fought actually lasted 12 years. So for this version, they might choose an actress who can play a teenager and a woman on her 30's at the same time. The Universal pictures version is said to be more action packed and violent. I think this version is asking for an older actress.
I am so happy we wont have a Paramount pictures version because Paramount have the reputation of having White actors to play Asian roles.
Which version do you think you will prefer watching?
The family friendly remake of the Disney Cartoon or the Dark and Gritty adaptation of the Legend by Sony pictures.

I Think Mainland China also did a version years ago staring Zhao Wei. I wonder which Hollywood version will succeed. The disney version have the advantage of Nostalgia. The Sony version on the other hand promises better action.

@youless because her pretending as a man is not believable? I think both and Disney should pick an actress who can act both feminine and masculine at the same time. Someone who can look pretty but also look manly.

How about the Sony adaptation that has a different story because she pretended to be a Man for 12 years. She is also a Martial Artist even before she pretended to be a man.

i love the animated version. I didn't know they would be making an live action movie. I would love to see both versions. I like her story.
