Do you know your ethnic group or culture well?

I got to admit that even though I am a Chinese, there are lots of things, culture and practices that I do not know about my ethinic group and the meaning behind many Chinese characters. Recently i bought Shuangxi (which means double happiness) pillows as decor for my upcoming wedding. When I thought of wanting to share the image my cute buy, I cracked my head and but still do not know exactly how to explain that Chinese character. Well, so... To keep it simple... It just means double happiness.. And why "double"? I am not quite sure. But probably symbolises the unity of two persons and also that the Chinese believes that happiness comes in twos...

@XinfulThotz there are countries like that like Japan which I appreciate so much in practicing their culture until now. I think Japan is exemplary in their taking good care of their culture and tradition.

I'm a white English person who was adopted from an Irish catholic family. I'm not sure what my ethnicity is...not even sure I fully understand the term ethnicity so I'll look it up and get back to you

@XinfulThotz I have looked it up. "the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition." That's what ethnicity is defined as. But for those like me we have a biological ethnicity and the group we grew up in. I'd say my ethnicity is English and I do know a great deal about English customs and cultural tradition. BUT...I'm also Irish too and I know a lot less about that side of things. I guess I'm like a hyphenated american....I'm an English Irish person
