The next step to being a famous geocacher

Okay so I don't really think or intend to ever be a famous geocacher. I would need to pay an additional $30 a year for an upgraded membership to try to get all the caches as they appear and accumulate a ton of First To Finds. I just enjoy finding them. It is so hard though with this junky cell phone that I have. After going out and finding about 30 geocaches the past few weeks I just have to give in and take the next step and buy a handheld gps. When I am in the woods and I am right on top of the cache and it is saying I am 200 feet away it is just impossible a lot of times to even come close to them. It takes me so much longer to find them then it should. Sometimes I just can't find them at all. Or sometimes it takes me a few tries going back and looking every single area over. I bought a Garmin etrex 20x on Amazon last night around 11pm for $185.45 (that included the tax). I had $76.31 in my amazon account from egiftcodes I earned on crowdtap. I put them towards this purchase so I only had to pay $109.14 from my checking account. It is going to arrive sometime tomorrow and I am so excited. Once it arrives I will spend the following day out geocaching and creating two geocaches in my area. The photo I uploaded it the stock photo of the gps I bought on amazon.

Patsie, I asked weeks ago to another user, here is what this thing is. It's an outdoor activity, in which participants use a GPS or a mobile device to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.

@Hannihar Geocaches are hidden containers that have a piece of paper to sign and some little trinkets to trade. When you find it you log the find on the app. Its like a virtual treasure hunt.

It arrived today. I cannot get it to connect and download the maps from my computer. I am going to try using it tomorrow just by typing in the coordinates while I am out. I am hoping that will work without having the maps.

@jaboUK Yes it is. Its a bit harder to work I think without the maps. I may have to call the company and have them help me get it set up through phone tech support.

Glad you were able to get what you want to do what you want. I watched an episode of Mysteries at the Museum last week and they showed the guys who began this. Interesting. Hope you find lots of treasures. Have a blessed day

What is geocache?

A geocache is some kind of container with a log book and sometimes little trinkets hidden inside. You use a gps to find where these are hidden. Its a lot kf fun.
