MacGyver - New Series Review

There are a lot of similarities to the original series. i.e. names - Angus McGyver, Jack Dalton, Thornton. Improvising solutions - Still handy with whatever is available. That is where the similarities end. Situations are more up to date. If you remember from the original MacGyver, his first name, only mentioned in one episode was also Angus. There is one mention to the original in a statement he always made when improvising. This new MacGyver is his grandson. I'm not certain yet about the other characters whether they are offspring or not, chances are not. Thornton is still his boss, only this Thornton is a woman. And they need to come up with a new cover for their organization, and of course that would be the Phoenix Foundation. Okay, so now the first episode of this new series - Explosive! Literally. There are some twists and turns you don't expect coming, which keeps one on their toes. And Mac doesn't use a gun, except to hit someone with it. So still not a weapons person just like his grandfather. It looks like it will be a very good series. Right now I'm going to give it a conservative three stars. If the action in the series keeps up as it did tonight, it will be a solid five in my book and well worth keeping around for a few seasons. By the way, the new Murdock's name is Nikki and she can get away as easily as Murdock in the original series. When you thought he was dead, he always came back. She's just as slippery and just as dangerous. Probably more dangerous. I have this on a series record for the DVR and I'm already anticipating next week's episode. Thanks for reading.
