The added image show the bravery of the man writing this post.
I kid you not.
It really was as bad as it looks in the picture.
After nuking it as instructed on the pack I tentatively opened the pack and it slipped out on to my expectant place.
It kind of fell out with a thud which surprised me somewhat.
It was almost all bone.
Yes the bargain I had picked up in the shop the other night now lay before me like a dead carcus in a killing house.
Red wine and onion gravy the blood.
The bone.
And a morsel of this so called slow cooked meat which really was mostly fat which got binned almost immeadiately.
Oh god my wife laughed as she tucked into her lovely looking Chicken Rogan Josh and Pilau Rice.
I was curious about how much edible meat there actually was
52 grams to be exact.
210 grams of bone.
The other approx 100 grams was made up of so called red wine and onion sludge.
Taste test.
The one mouthful of beef was ok.
The sludge bland and the texture questionable.
I reckon anyone who paid the full price for this muck must have lost all respect for themselves.
Luckily I only paid roughly 10 percent of that.
I did how ever really enjoy the beetroot I had with it and ate all 150 gramd of it.
Some in Juniper and malt vinegar it was indeed a triumph.
I am still hungry.
Anyway.
Have you ever been as hacked off with something you bought to eat as I was.
Have you ever wondered why the disater dinner was ever made in the first place.
Have you fallen for a pretty picture on the packet as I did?
Questions questions some without the question mark but hey ho there you go.

I guess the picture is the first thing people see so if the picture looks good people are more likely to buy it.
I wonder though if anyone eating this muck actually enjoys it.
£3.75 for 2 ounces of questionable beef with a big none and some sludge is robbery.
Thank god I only paid £0.29

You should contact the store or the company that put the product out. That is fraud. I did that with pot pies that did not have any filling. They said they would send coupons. They never came, I tried again with no coupons in the mail. But, they lost because I don't buy their pot pies anymore. There is a chance you might get reimbursed.

@saulgoodman It is a dish with pie crust. You put vegetables, meat, and gravy in it and bake it in the oven. They come already filled and frozen so you can bake them when you are ready to eat. They are good but not when there is no filling.
You can make them at home too. You just make the crust and fill them with what you like. You can even make them family size.

@akalinus
Sounds like pies we get here.
Steal and kidney would be my choice with a nice beefy gravy.

I am one of the vultures who stands around waiting till the knock down the price guy arrived with his yellow stickers and printers.
Somehow methinks the store would not be amused and ban me.
What is a pot pie?
Sorry your coupons never came.

the packet picture wouldn't have lured me but the price would - sometimes it can lead to decent meals though - obviously this one was rubbish

Well being Scottish the price was obviously the default reason for me buying it.
To be fair I haven't bought that many disaster dinners over the years.

I try not to buy pre-packaged food especially meat, usually the texture is terrible not to mention the taste.

Me too.
But this seemed like a bargain to good to miss.
Learned my lesson.
Till the next time no doubt.

Lol. This one was really only one mouthful unless you were a pitbull and liked the bone.

I remember buying what was supposed to be crispy duck and pancakes from Asda, but it was ready shredded crispy duck so you just put it in the microwave. As normally happens with microwaves, any crispiness is quickly lost and so what I ended up with was a load of soft pieces of quite fatty duck meat. It was awful. I am often disappointed by ready meals and buy them very rarely these days. I do like Charlie Bigham's chicken curries from Ocado/Waitrose though - but they are expensive.

Charlie Bighams.
They are awesome but as you say very expensive.
Got 4 of them in Asda one night 75 percent off.
Crispy Duck lol. I must have had the se one as you once.
A pool of fat the duck was swimming in.
Yukk

I guess the price should have been a tip off lol. I had a terrible roast one time, and it cost a lot more than 29 cents lol.

Hello snowy.
The price was the knockdown price at the expiry date. £0.29.
Did you notice in the picture the full price.
£3.75.
I expected better.
Feel let down.

Thgat´s exactly why I don´t EVER buy those pretty packages of food. I prefer to cook from scratch. And many times I cook enough to save part of it and freeze to eat later on.

Hello there.
I totally agree with you on this.
I only bought it because of the knocked down price.
I think because of the normal price I did expect it to be better.
Like you we used to cook everything from scratch but over the summer we were away a lot on our motorbike and got out of the habit of cooking.
Lesson learned.
Back to cooking again.

Nowadays everything is sold in the name of beef. It is not good and tasty also. In a restaurant ,if you get it on discount it does not mean that it is a beef only.

Hello there.
In the United Kingdom we have people who make sure that what the pack says is indeed what is in the pack.
It was beef.
Just not much of it.
I wouldn't buy it again even at the knockdown price I got it for
