The Sum of all Friends

I've read in a number of places that your life is heavily affected by your five closest friends. Whether you are successful, good at weight loss or bad, happy or sad, depends a great deal on those five people. The theory is that if you want to improve your life, try to attract friends that more closely align with who you want to be. Hang with riffraff, be riffraff. Spend time with success, be successful. I've seen this work for me. The five closest people to me right now are thoughtful, knowledgeable, kind, and interesting to talk to. I have noticed my life getting measurably better. Have you seen this work too?

I'd think if you had less than five, you'd just be the average of the people you know.

@Jessicalynnt That makes sense. I have five top people I hang out with at work. Also, I guess I do have more now, since I've met a couple of people that elevate my mind when I talk to them, and I see them semi-regularly. Okay, one I see every day because we rideshare.

Nice post. I'd be with poets if I could but for now I hang with my two bestest buddies and am the better for it.

@Rohvannyn I imagine I would. I sure get fired up like I'm on a good old drunk when I go to places like Diablo.

i do agree that friends impact the way we plan our days...but i don't think it has impacted my life choices or decisions...I have different friends for different moods. Which for me is perfect.
