You could be anything you want, but would make significantly less finacally if you chose your passion. You would be fine while you are young enough to do it. The problem is when you get to old and are forced to retire. Would you still do it?
That is kind of what this song is about. That is my interpretation anyway. Second guesing all the poor decisions you made throughout your life finacially and now came to the realization you are a 53 year old punk rocker. With nothing to fall back on. It may not be cute, but think it is pretty cool. To bad we make everything about money when this is really what life should be about. Why else are we living, if not?

Our society seems to have a sickness and noticed probably insane because we keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
